I have to say I'm a bit disappointed in the guy who is supposed to be the American face of distance running, Ryan Hall. New Orleans announced back in December that he would be running the half marathon as a "tune-up" race for Boston. They were going to bring in more elites to make the race better. Well, yesterday they managed to sign the Olympic Gold Medalist and 1/2 marathon World Record Holder, Sammy Wanjiru! Then, today, Ryan Hall backed out. Of course he says he is pulling out of the race so he can gully focus on Boston, but the race was supposed to be a Boston "tune-up." It just seems to me like Hall got a little embarrassed buy losing in Arizona and doesn't want history repeating itself in New Orleans.

I agree it's disappointing that Ryan Hall won't run - but how awesome that Wanjiru will be there! That should be fun spectating - I wonder if the masses will see the elite leaders coming the opposite direction on the half course.

I have to agree with Kenny that it's disappointing that Ryan Hall isn't running but Wanjiru is as big as it gets. I believe he would even beat Haile Gebrselassie. The addition of Wanjiru is awesome for the New Orleans race.

Kelly, I haven't stopped to study the new course they have laid out for this year, but I believe Kenny told me that was one of the "changes"....you won't have the runners going out & back on St. Charles. Too bad if that's true, it'd be pretty cool to catch a glimpse of Wanjiru and others along the course. I hate that Hall won't be there to compete. I don't know who I'm going to have Scott pace off of now!

That's funny Jon. Based on our times in the half, If he gave me an hour head start , he would still beat me by 3 minutes.

Ok, so I know the race is still 11 days out but I have gotten to be obsessed about checking the 15 day forecast on accuweather.com. On Monday they were calling for rain, now it is showing as clear but warmer than my liking with the highs in the mid 60s. I guess that's not too bad but I sure would like it to stay in the mid to upper 40s. What kind of weather are the rest of you hoping for?

That's the spirit...both to Jon and the weather. Last night I was getting worried but I guess all my ranting and raving worked because over night the projected high dropped from 77 to 63...woohoo!!!
