Okay, since no else wants to say it, I will.... Congrats to Justin for winning Saturday's Hot Trot in Gulf Shores! I honestly can't remember Justin's exact time from our conversations on Sunday, but I believe it was 16:40 something? Great job in the heat, and basically running by yourself! I will have to depend on someone who was at the event to fill in the spaces on everyone else in regards to place & time. I do remember hearing that Kenric had a very good race, not only in overall time and place but in the way that he achieved it.......apparently Kenric has abandoned the "Go out HARD and hang on" method and embraced the negative/even split philosophy.........and the results show how well this works! Congrats on a really nice race Kenric! I know we had quite a few team members out there.....Kenny, Brad, Tracey, Larry, Marty, Clint......I'm just not sure of their place/time. Hopefully someone will elaborate for us.

It was a hot, miserable morning and I'm not sure what I was thinking racing. Justin pretty much led from the gun, with the exception of the first 200 meters in which, "Headband Guy" was the pacesetter. Some college kid took out after Justin and I ran in 3rd. Just past the mile, the college kid began to fade and I overtook him for 2nd. Too bad I crashed and burned around mile 2. First a silver haired midwesterner visiting on vacation passed me and then Kenric a few minutes later. Kenric ran down the "yankee" for 2nd and I tried to close the gap but when the head said "go," the legs said NO!" I finished 4th and ended up running 18:07. Kind of disappointed, but I think I hate the heat almost as much as Jon. Justin won in a time of 16:54, Kenric ran 17:4x, Silver Fox ran 17:57. Not sure about the rest so I'll leave that for someone else.

I can speak for the rest of the crew when I say it was hot and miserable. I stayed behind Marty and was able to maintain my pace under 7 minute miles through the first two miles. I fell apart the third mile. My goal was sub 21:25 since I had a decent two miler the week before, but at least I didn't regress from the 5k at Hillcrest. My official time was 21:52. Not happy with it, but I haven't been training for a 5k and have been putting in 50 plus mile weeks too. Please don't ever let me get out of shape again! It's tough running with extra weight!!!

I ran a 20:27, not too bad. Tracey had 19:31 and Larry was not too far behind him. Brad was masters winner, I think he had 18:31.
