I bet Samantha and I win the "battle of the day" award. She caught me in mile 2 on bumpy Old Government. We briefly encouraged each other, then ran shoulder to shoulder all the way to the finish. There was a young gentleman that would surge between us, then we would catch back up to him literally for four miles. We ran very even splits around 6:27 until mile 6 when we started picking it up. We ran a 6:11 sixth mile. We were still together for the final stretch and she got me by a few seconds. I've never had so much fun getting beat. Great race Samantha! Congratulations to you, Daniel, Kenny, and everyone else with a PR!

Amy, it sounds like y'all did have a fun one. Good race to the both of you. Sounds like you both are rounding into great shape for the winter and your upcoming races. Kenric and I had a good plan going into the race hoping to run sub 36. It was a tough go from the very beginning. We were a little bit slow at the first mile and I think we both started to worry because it seemed like we were already pushing a bit. In the 2nd mile I got a bit anxious and took off a little bit running a 5:37. Kenric caught me again on Old Government and I tried to calm myself back down. When I hit the 3rd mile in 6:01, I quickly started to panic again and decided to go for broke. I was hurting like hell but figured it'd be pretty painful no matter if I was running 5:45's or 6:00's. I ended up getting to mile 6 and was still a few seconds behind when I decided to let my kick go...very reminiscent of a Tuesday night at Bayside. I ended up getting a PR and getting under 36 by 7 seconds. I was most proud of the fact that I actually pushed through the pain for once and didn't flake out. Kenric ended up running a good race too, PRing in the process. I know you didn't meet your goal of sub 36, but you tend to thrive in warmer either in which I'm toast. Sub 60 at Turkey 10 here we come.
