I know many of you may not want to "report" on their race at ATR this past weekend.....it was brutal for many. BUT, at least check in and let us know you are okay. Several actually had good races in spite of the heat/humidity......two that come to mind, Amy & Kenny....they seemed to hold up just fine! ;D Let us know how it went....The Good, the bad, & the ugly!

I am actually satisfied with my race. I ran faster than Leprechaun or sweetheart and in much worse weather. Just after the start I decided to not look at my watch except at the splits and I just latched onto Leonard Vergunst hoping to get dragged through until he left me. Fortunately for me, he never pulled away. At a few points in the race I really felt good and wanted to go but I made myself hold back and stay with Leonard. I think it was a wise choice because late in the race I had enough energy left that I wasn't dying like many others.
I do find it kind of strange that I ran as well as I did though because: 1.) my mileage has been pretty pathetic since the beginning of February, and 2.) I usually wilt like a delicate flower on hot humid days.
For everyone that hung in there and finished, good job. It would've been real easy to take a DNF on a day like that. Glad to see that we are tough enough to get to the finish line even on a crappy day.

I ran awful. I gave up racing at mile one and just tried not to drop out.

Well, I take the casualty award. I have a new personal worst for the 10K. I have never felt so awful during or after a race. My sincerest apologies to the Spiridon ladies team. I hated letting y'all down and not being able to perform my best.

Terrible race for me as well. I hoped to break 44. I could have easily done it at spring fever. I thought since I ran a 45:38 tempo I was in for a great ATR. Oh well time to start base training for a fall marathon! PS I wanted to walk after I passed Ann St.

Good to see Spridon get the national attention we deserve!!!! Congrats Amy and Derrick! Repost from BAR: Not sure how many folks are on the distribution of the RRCA quarterly magazine but if you get it, don't just toss aside. It has a piece on last years ATR. It's a good piece and Amy Huff is listed as the top Female masters and top local female. Others local names getting credit were Derrick Rodgers, Leonard Vergunst, Melanie Moore, and Marian Loftin. I went to the web site, clicked on publications and only the winter edition is posted. Maybe it will come up soon. Nice article-Congrats AMY.
