It was a fun race, and I actually liked the course more than I thought I would. I am beginning to see the benefits of all the miles I put in this summer, which is encouraging. Taking off Keith and I were pretty much side by side through 2 miles. I think it helped both of us keep our pace steady. A little after mile 2 we began to have more space in between us and I started trying to push to close the gap on the guy in second. Sub 18 wasn't even in my head considering the course but I wanted to make sure I gave a good effort. With two turns to go the gap to second was closing quickly and I jumped on the chance at last turn. I guess with about a quarter to go I took off and was able to pass and put some room between me and the next guy. I did get to see the 17's on the clock, even though I didn't cross under them. The race made me excited for the season and eager to race another.
Our group had a great showing in the 5 and 10k. Congrats to Bowie and Amy for winning the 5k, and Courtney, Rebecca, and Sam in the 10k.
I think Ali raced this weekend. Since this is a runners forum, maybe he can tell us about THAT part of the race, just leave out that other junk. haha

Great race Daniel and congratulations on the PR! Sub 18:00 is well within your reach now. You are right that I raced too. I didn't run well in Augusta but did better then I thought I would on the rest of the "junk!"
