I know we had quite a few runners running in various races this past weekend. So let's hear how everything went! I enjoyed running the Mullet 5K in Fairhope......Team Spiridon swept the top 4 spots with Daniel, Samantha, Larry & myself taking spots 1 thru 4 respectively. We also had a future team member run an excellent time....Jake Huff! I know we had several run the Bay Minette 5K and then we also had some go over and run a Half-Marathon in LA. Sooooooo.....those who ran, give us some details! ;D The Mullet 5K was fun. The course is interesting with some nice little hills on it....enough to make it challenging, along with some nice downhill sections allowing you to stretch out a little bit. Daniel ran another PR on this course and took the overall win as well. Samantha was the second runner across the finish line taking top female overall honors......followed closely by Larry and then myself. The race had 352 runners and LOTS of good food afterward! ;D

I ran a little race in Robertsdale called the Celebration Run. It was the first year they had the race, and as can be expected it has some organizational problems; nothing too big but just the typical first year race stuff. I won rather easily as the 2nd place finisher was 2:30-3:00 behind me, but I have no idea what my real time was. I ran the course as a warmup and could clearly see Bowie's markings from the recently done certification. Then in the race, there was an out and back portion and they made me go past the turnaround point and circle through a small parking lot. I knew it was wrong but did not try to fight it during the race because I didn't feel like getting DQ'd. When I finished, Keith Cooper's clock had me at 17:01. Lu Jeffrey was operating the hand timer and had me at 16:56. My watch had me at 17:32 for 3.21 miles. I don't know how they screwed up the clocks in the manner that they did. I'm glad I wasn't too much faster or I would have been really mad. My old college PR is 16:52 and I haven't broken 17 since college. I really don't think I would have broken 17 this time either as I faded kind of bad after mile 2.

Well, Sam and I ran a couple of races this weekend and were able to have good runs in both races. Saturday we did the Mullet Run, my favorite race around (mostly because of the post race food). I really wanted to win this one and at the start someone I didn't know took off and set a fast early pace. I thought I may be in for a race until about 0.25 into the race he was asking for directions (there were HUGE white arrows on the course) I assumed he didn't race much and after about half a mile he faded back. I still haven't broken 18 yet, but DID get a new PR 18:05, and Sam ended up catching AND passing that guy and getting 2nd overall. It was a fun race and I'm looking forward to our nights at the Grand. The other race we did was in Mandeville La. It was a half and since I had run hard on Sat, I didn't want to run really hard on Sunday, just put in a good tempo and have fun. I've never had a good time in the half (my current PR was 1:38). Sunday morning, I had no watch and decided to run with Sam for a while and just enjoy the area. The course was great, really flat and cool weather. Sam and I ran together the first 9.5-10 miles and then she told me to go ahead. I wanted to break 1:30 but had no clue where I was on time, so everyone I caught I had to ask what our time was. (haha. People weren't overly eager to answer that). When I finally crossed the line I was laughing, it read 1:30:01 (earlier in the race I stopped to use the restroom and then had to catch back up to Sam. I figured that had cost me my sub 1:30) but since it was a chip race my actual time ended up being 1:29:13. I am very satisfied and the race gave me a lot of confidence going into Savannah.
