I thought it maight be fun to have a place where we could discuss/review any new or old running shoes or any other running related gear.
I'll start it off by giving my opinions on some shoes I've tried lately...
Nike Air Zoom Miler: A lightweight trainer which could very easily be used as a racing flat.....especially for the Marathon. I have two versions of this shoe, one I like, and one I don't. The one I like has the "traditional" mesh upper (white)....low profile, with Zoom Air in the rear and front. The one I don't care for is essentially the same shoe except the upper is a different "silver" material.....which is what causes the problem for me. The silver upper tends to be hotter than the mesh version, but the real problem for me is the silver uppers tend to "crease" at the flex point on top of my foot......which after 5 miles or so causes a blister or hot spot to develop. I reserve the silver pair for shorter runs, because other than the problems descibed, they are a nice feeling pair of shoes.
White uppers-
Silver uppers-
Air Zoom Elite: Aaahhhhh, now here's a pair of lightweight trainers that I look forward to running in each week. Once again, I have two pairs of these....different colors, but fortunately that appears to be the only difference. These shoes are a good balance of stability and lightweight trainer for me. I like the feel....nice responsive ride with just a tad bit of medial support......perfect for faster paced medium distance and longer runs. These would probably serve many people well for use in the Marathon.
