Picked up one of these at an area store....it is a bandana with "beads" sewn into the fabric. When soaked in water the beads expand into a gel.....you tie the bandana around your neck and get the "cooling" effect of evaporation. Nice concept......and one that works to an extent. You really do get a cooling effect for a long time....it takes the beads hours, sometimes days to shrink back down to normal size.....and you can re-use the product over and over again. Since you have a large volume of blood flow going thru the neck, this is supposed to keep you cool "all over"....which again, it does to an extent. I think these would work well for casual activities outdoors in the heat, but for running.....it just didn't cut it. Too much heat for a bandana of gel to dissapate. You might think "well, every little bit helps"....but I found the hassle of having this thing bouncing and flopping around not to be worth it.

If anyone wants to try one out, there's a free lying around somewhere at Blakley.
