Since I found out that Chicago was most likely out for me I have been throwing around some other options of a closer to home fall marathon. In October, however, it can still be hot in these parts. I was searching around and looking at different info when I found this table which I though some of you may find interesting. fellrnr.com/wiki/Impact_of_Heat_on_Marathon_PerformanceAverage temp in October for Madison, MS is mid 60s so I may need to reconsider if going for a fast time. Bad news is the average temp in P'cola in November is also mid 60s. Guess I can't win

Kenny,
Thanks for sharing the article on the effects of temperature on performance. Although the average temp in Pcola is in the mid 60's, you have to remember that the minimum is only 50 and I'm sure the race will start early. With any luck you may get to the finish line before it hits 60!
