Good job everyone!
I finally had the opportunity to get out there and actually join you guys for a road race. ;D I was pleased with my effort, in fact ended up running about :25 faster per mile than I had planned while keeping my HR in that "threshold" zone, finishing with a 1:12:22.
On to the fast people......
Jon Bowie was first to cross the finish line with no one close to push him....in a time of 55:51....a new state age record I am told.
There was a nice "battle" for 2nd & 3rd overall with Team Spiridon runners Kenny & Kenric running together the whole way, Kenric surging ahead toward the end to finish in a time of 59:52 & Kenny close behind in a time of 1:00:17.
Amy Huff & Samantha Gardner (Team Spiridon runners) followed the same script, running shoulder to shoulder the entire way with Amy taking 1st overall female & Sam taking 2nd in times of 1:08:34 & 1:08:35 respectively!
Other Spiridon runners having fine races...
Ten-Miler:
Larry Wayne- 1:07:34 (9th overall)
Tracey Levins- 1:09:42 (15th overall)
Marty DeMouy- 1:10:14 (17th overall)
5K:
Daniel Gardner- 18:46 (3rd overall)
Congratulations to everyone for placing at or near the "top of the heap"! I also have to give props to a couple of others....Victor is running strong, placed 4th overall with a 1:03:52! (and he's now officially almost as old as I am! )....Melanie Moore ran a splendid race with a 1:13:28, and I believe in the process annihilating the state record for female 58 yr olds!! Christine Conrad showed up with no speed-work under her belt and cruised to a 3rd place overall finish, making it look easy with a 1:12:14.
A good day for all, these were just a few of my observations. Please feel free to add your own. ;D
