Here are my splits from Savannah for anyone that may care:
1 - 6:30 2 - 6:39 (13:09) 3 - 6:32 (19:41) 4 - 6:31 (26:12) 5 - 6:23 (32:35) 6 - 6:21 (38:56) 7 - 6:33 (45:29) 8 - 6:26 (51:55) 9 - 6:29 (58:24) 10 - 6:33 (1:04:57) 11 - 6:32 (1:11:29) 12 - 6:21 (1:17:50) 13 - 6:24 (1:24:14) 14 - 6:30 (1:30:44) 15 - 6:26 (1:37:10) 16 - 6:25 (1:43:35) 17 - 6:30 (1:50:05) 18 - 6:25 (1:56:30) 19 - 6:35 (2:03:05) 20 - 6:38 (2:09:43) 21 - 6:44 (2:16:27...still on pace) 22 - 6:50 (2:23:17...no longer on pace) 23 - 6:54 (2:30:11) 24 - 7:13 (2:37:24) 25 - 7:05 (2:44:29) 26 - 7:12 (2:51:41) .2 - 1:31 (2:53:12)
Total: 2:53:12
At mile 21 the course climbed up onto the Truman Parkway for a 4mile stretch directly into a 20 mph headwind. This stretch is where I lost it. I believe many others were crushed on this stretch as well...I was still feeling good until I hit that wind. I may have been crashing a bit to begin with but I wasn't feeling it yet. The wind and the wall may have simultaneously hit me but up until that point, my race plan was pretty much going right on.
Though I hoped for a PR I am not too terribly disappointed because I was semi-injured going into the race and really had questions about my fitness due to missing a lot of runs in the last month leading up to the marathon.
Congrats to the Gardner's who both ran nice PR's and also to the rest of the group for running well in tough conditions. It was a fun trip and I look forward to the next big event, whatever it may be. Now, for some rest...then on to the next 26.2.

Great job Kenny! You know it's all a matter of perspective. Just think back to your first marathon and what you expected to run there......and now here you are somewhat disappointed in running a 2:53. .......not bad!!! That last stretch on Truman Pkwy was tough, but that's not what did me in. My problem was simply getting greedy and running a "stupid" race.

Very true Jon! I hate that I missed my goal but I'm not terribly disappointed as I know I've come along way. But...on the flipside, I still have a long way to go!
It was hard not to get a bit greedy in the weather we had minus the wind. Don't beat yourself up too much. there is always another dragon to slay. We should get better weather in these next few months and I'd say to give it a shot again before the winter is over.

Here's my splits; they're pretty comparable to Kenny's since we ran the first 11 together. Mile 1: 6:44 Mile 2: 6:37 (13:22) Mile 3: 6:30 (19:53) Mile 4: 6:22 (26:15) Mile 5: 6:19 (32:35) Mile 6: 6:24 (38:59) Mile 7: 6:29 (45:28) Mile 8: 6:30 (51:59) Mile 9: 6:29 (58:28) Mile10: 6:26 (1:04:54) Mile 11: 6:39 (1:11:34) Mile 12: 6:16 (1:17:50) Mile 13: 6:21 (1:24:12) 0.1 :30 (1:24:42) I felt good, my legs didn't tire out, but my feet got really sore the last 3 or so miles. ( I think my racing flats were a little too worn for a half.) I'm feeling better now though and am excited about more half's. We also had a blast just looking around Savannah and chillin the rest of the weekend. I'm very much looking forward to more weekend trips.
